Hi,
Is the standard gearbox up to the power of a fast road 1293 or 1380??

Cheers

Yes but the time between rebuilds will depends on how you drive it!

However, I would suggest atleast upgrading the diff pin, and rebuilding it before you use it to make sure it's in tip-top condition to start with. No point putting a nearly bust gearbox on your new engine

same gearbox, the MG variety is no stronger than one in a 998... and to be honest would have had a harder life than one in a 998...

Standard gearboxes are good for about 100bhp maybe a little more... its the drop gears that give u grief...if u have an engine with alot of power i'd change to some roller bearing s/c drops.

Mine is fitted with 1:1 S/C drop gears at the moment so should be ok. A old couple had the car before me so it did not have a hard life around 400 - 500 miles a year in the last six years and 43,000 in all.
