after reading many topics and watchin my 3 minifilm dvds, i noticed a couple of people have installed bike engines into there mini's with forced induction (turbo, NOS, didnt see a supercharged 1)

wher abouts so you mount the intercooler.....up front makes sense but then the lag for the cool air to get to the engine would not work brilliantly.....so near back is next logical place
??

where abouts is this...in interested/builing funds to do an R1 mini and got a mate who worked @ TTS in northampton saying they do a turbo or supercharger kit for it....producing around 235bhp at a reasonable low psi (like 10psi)

Have a look at the pics from Bingley in the general meets section. There is a pic of the Z Cars Monte Carlo with a supercharged Vtec. They have mounted the intercooler right on top of the engine. You'd obviously then have ducting from vents in the roof/windows/bobyshell supplying cold air.

so you could hav lik a feed to the airfilters off of one window....and a feed to the intercooler of of the other.

surely that will gt a nice cold charge

If the vents were big enough I suppose. However consider the fact that I think most bike engines take vents from both windows just for the airfilter.

ahh...didnt realise you use both windows for the airfilters!

i take it the vtec uses the updraft for the intercooler or runs with no windows constantly?

just trying to gather bitta info so wen i eventually gt the cash saved to buy a zcars kit.....if i decide to take the forced induction route (to test the size of me gonads) i want to gather as much wisdom as i can!

iv seen a couple of completed cars and had the honour of sitting in 1 guys while he was drivin (does not have internet so is not on here...although i believe he will be joinin soon.

do you have to have a intercooler for a supercharger?
they do work reliably without?

R1 with standard internals, supercharged to 210bhp + then 100bhp of nitrous.....

so 310bhp, say 270@ rear wheels in a mini....and more than enough torque to see an impressive 0-100mph time, and if the gearind was incresed, the extra torque could allow higher top speed!!

now thats gotta be of sum interest to sum people....as well as me

as some of you have said we run the air to air type intercooler above the engine and duct air to it fron side window
if you are really serious about high power output then both windows can duct air to the cooler and a third in the roof can duct cool air to the intake or run a large bore tube from front of car through interior to intake, with forced induction theres no advantage doing the second option as the turbo/supercharger will drag all the air in it needs

What about making a hole in the roof in the size of the intercooler? Then make brackets and let it hang under the gap.

Air pipes will be a lot shorter and there enough cold air coming over the roof.....

Idea or not?

Later!
