I'm wondering if some of the race boys could tell me where i can get some coiled cable? You know like the stuff thats on you're old corded phone, except for automotive use. Its to go up the steering column for some buttons on the wheel.

Been looking for ages with not much success, so if anyone could help that would be great.

Thanks all, Dan

yea, neil g. I've been lookin for some for bloody ages too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some 6 core would be nice. Got to wire, 2 indicators, horn, flasher, launch control (ooooohhh yea  ) and then a wire to earth them all.

I know some peeps use phone cord, and that wouldn't be a problem really, as all the stuff i'm wiring uses relays. But the wires in a phone cord are very very thin, and i can see the solders breaking with the abuse i'd give it.

ooo you have a catalogue  Thats a good start

I think 2 bits of 3 core would do the job, the switches are rated at 1 amp. I haven't done electrics for a over a year now and my memorys gone to pot. Let me figure out all the details and i'll get back to ya on what i need...

Oh - and does it come in black? and what catalogue is it exactly?

Cheers Dan

I am using 4 switches, 2 indicators, horn and high beam flash. So I only need 4 core as all the switches will be grounded to operate the relays.

Have a look for your cable HERE

If your worried about the solders breaking then clamp the cable. Would be wise to do regardless of what cable you use.

I have lots of 7 core cable.

It's not curly though, just straight.

A serial connector would be quite sturdy and removable

Thats brilliant koss, thanks

Are you earthing you're switches on the column then? I didn't know if that was going to be a suitable ground?? I was gonna run one of the wires as a common earth for all the switches, back to the bulkhead

As put on MF:

Easiest, and to know it will carry the current, would be to hack up one of these:
http://www.western-t...ds_sockets.html

Here's some other leads you could butcher or there is a 5 core microphone cable:

More here, including 15 core (not sure on amp rating of that though!):

If you need switches you can get them from the first link.
These are the latching type for the indicators

I dont want to be a thread Hi-jack here. BUT Ive got plans to put Switch gear from a 206 into my Mini.

Now I was just wondering how the wiring on the switch gear worked? Is it all done by earthing out relays which run the origional circuit?

Cheers
