Hi

It's not soo much a problem as I don't use the car, but the heater wont heat up! I know there is that knob, in for heat out for cold - as if there's a difference

Heater is newly re-furbed, it works and blows air, but only cold air. I touch the wing and feel that it is warm, and radiator is hot, just no heat!

Any body know the problem?!

If you have a friend to help, one person move the lever & the other look to see if it is moving the valve on the cylinder head opposite end from the radiator. If it doesn't can you try to move the valve manually.

This happened to mine a while back, flushed the system, put in a new thermostat, filled it back up and now works lovely.

Normally an air lock in the heater. It should make very much of a difference by the way, depending on which heater you have. Some of them are very effective.

When you say 'flush' the system, do you mean attach a hose and wash it through?

Also, what mix of Antifreeze is used?

Heater valve is fully open, still no different... looks like a system flush will be in order!

yeah i put the hose through mine and let it run for about 5 or 10 minutes until it was running clear, then reversed the flushing.
i used a 50 / 50 mix with antifreeze using a bottle to measure it. then when it was all full, i run the engine for a while with the heater tap open and the radiator cap off to get rid of air in the system. dont know if this is the correct full proof way of doing it but it worked a treat for my heater!!

Have you checked that there is enough water? The heaters on one of mine blew cold, topped up the water, and it was lovely and warm again

Well I guess it could be that as I havent checked the water for about 9 years at least!

is it the same problem if its the opposite and it only blows hot also
while im here how gud is ur screen heater supposed 2 b as i can hardly feel mine tks

thats more likely just the valve thats stuck,

ive taken mine out of the car so it only blows hot then when im too hot il turn off the heater and oper a window, simple

also tidies up the engine bay!

Which hoses do you flush through and do you have to remove the thermostat to do the whole system?

I've heard some people have the engine runing and pump clean water in to push the dirty stuff out. Is this a good idea too?

i wouldnt think its safe to run the engine and flush as the cold water flushing through may crack the head(etc.)

remove the thermostat of the water wont flow, flush one way til it runs out clean then the other way for 5/10mins, now replace the thermostat, although wouldnt hurt to change it, only a couple of quid.

at least drop in a pan of water with a thermometer then heat up and see if it still opens at the correct temp...
