As title ....
Whilst the seals are the right profile and fit perfectly into the window opening I am having problems getting the window to close properly, there's too much space between the front of the window and the door upright... window is 2-3mm too far back and doesn't sit in the seal correctly (touches the paintwork where the handle is riveted on at the back)

Any tips for compressing the seal at the front to gain these extra 2-3mm ????
Even with my barn-door sized neighbour helping to push the window to the front we can't compress the joint enough.
Perhaps special tools are required to get enough leverage to squeeze the window frame into the seal ?

Any help greatly appreciated

Are talking about the seal which goes round the glass and into the split frame....if so they are a complete and utter b'stard..... The only suggestion I can make is to make a jig using a couple of sash clamps to get the finisher back over the rubber and relocating the 4 little screws

I do this with a deadblow hammer, making sure you stretch the rubber tightly round the glass and lubricating it with silicon grease before introducing it to the frame but as John says it is a horrible thing to have to do.

If you mean the actual body seal though, do you have the type of window with two small bent metal hinges or a piano hinge?

I think that the later type of seals don't fit the old Mk2's as they are too big I know this is true for the doors...

It's the body seal, not the frame seal, and is the correct profile for a MK2 (not the later one that Gr4h4m is talking about)

The window has 2 small bent "hinges" with a screw to attach each to the door post.
(not even a hinge really... just a curved piece of steel chromed like the rest of the frame)

Just open the hinges up a little more, that's what I've always done.
