Hi,
I have a problem with a fuse that recently keeps blowing. When i put the key in the ignition and turn it to the the second stage before starting up, the rding on my ammeter reads about 50 amps. Obviously this doesn't last long as the fuse (30 amp) burns out. If i just normally start the car the fuse blows immeadiately. The fuse that is blowing is the one that recieves the positive feed from the coil, and feeds the indicators, reversing lamps, and the stop taillights. Needless to say the car will start anyway-as it does without the fuse, but driving like this is a bit illegal!
I can't see that i have any bulbs gone but i really cannot see where this massive current is being developed, i tried using a different coil as i thought that may have been the reason, obviously there is a path of very little resistance somewhere, would it be throuh a short or something else?

Thanks
Mark

Have you had a new exhuast fitted recently? It could be that the reverse light switch wiring is chafing on the exhaust and is causing a short circuit.

So have a look underneath at the rod change gear selector and check the wiring coming off that reverse light switch.
