Over the last few days various electrical things have gone wrong but i've managed to fix them easily. But now i'm totally lost. When I turn the lights on, tail lights work, dash lights work. Front sides and normal beam/high beam do not, and the blue lamp on the dash is glowing at me.
It's making me very angry! I'm trying to sell this car (its my spare) i have checked the fuses in the fuse box which are ok and clean / as is the fuse box. I'm giving up now as its pitch black so i'm staying in tonight :'(
So before I get my torch to have another go, has anyone had this happen before?
I had thought it was the dimdip relay as it doesn't click but on replacing it with a spare it still doesn't work. So the problem must be elsewhere.
help! help!

blue main beam light stuck on and nothing up front works

Check the connections and printed circuit on the rear of the clocks. Perhaps something is amiss here?
Or the headlight switch has developed a fault?
There could also be a short circuit somewhere, so check the pesky bullitt connectors behind the grille and the loom where it passes through the bulkhead too.
Wiring connections at the front of the car behind the grille:-
Earth is the Black wires
Sidelights are Red/Red with Green
Headlights are thick Blue with Red
Main Beam thick Blue with White

I experienced this problem alot for a while. For me at least i found it to be the black bullet connectors behind the grille. One of them was loose causing this problems. doing a wiggle test proved this to be the case. clean the connectors down to bear metal and make sure they are secure and preferable behind the ignition sheild if you have one.

Now Mini engine bays are not the best place to keep mice, hamsters, ferrets or birds etc!

Spot on!
This forum is looking to be very useful indeed, as I've just got a mini (can't seem to start a post in the "hello" section though....) and I have got this exact same problem today.
I'm sure you'll hear from me if it doesn't work for me!

Well, just went to the mini armed with dremmel and wire brush attachment.
Cleaned all the bullent connectors as suggested above, and WOOHOO! All solved.
Decided the standard mini headlights are not too bright, even when working! LOL!
Second fix of the day.
Brilliant - means I can do the exhaust first thing tomorrow.
