It is way too far gone to bother with and it is really not worth the effort (don't try and convince me otherwise, it really is bad, rotten/bodged sills, rotten rear quarters, rotten heelboard, rotten front bulkhead, all covered over with filler, seam sealer, so on and so forth).
Now, I have an old convertible shell, which has been sat in a mates field for some time now. Needs new A panels, new flitches, has no doors, needs a new roof. It has a brand new rear subby, the original steering rack and engine and box.
This means that I am hatching a plan:
Parts that I have spare:
1275 A series engine, with MG Metro head and HIF44 and on a remote change box (bored out),
998 A+ engine and box,
7 x 13 Superlites,
Sportpack arches,
Brand new rear subframe,
Pair of new door skins,
Pair of doors needing a skin,
Two spare petrol tanks,
Wiring loom,
Headlights, Indicators, Lenses,
Dashboard (centre speedo),
So, I reckon that I have enough part to make a roadster out of the clubby. Chop the roof panel off the Shed, steel band in the middle to make it wide enough, have it hinged to create a space for the shopping. Weld the new doorskins in the door apertures to close them off, put some bracing behind there for some structural stability, pop on my 7 x 13 superlites, sportpack arches, standard brakes all round, 1275 engine on A+ box, centre speedo, nice ikkle roll hoops.
Shall I do it once the FReaK is finished?
NB: I know I am a sloooow mover when it comes to projects, but I am getting better now I have my own garage with a power supply. If I do this it'll take me years, but I reckon it'd be the ultimate sunny weekend day car!
