    Starting My Mini Up

I have had my 1976 mini sitting for 6+ years. The last time it was running it had a dead spot on the starter and eventually wouldn't start. It has been stored in a carport covered with a tarp. Seems one of the brakes is locked. I have recharged the battery several times in those past years and attempted a restart maybe 2 years ago. I have the new starter but would like to know what else I should look for or do to it after it has been sitting for so long. I do now have the full manual. I have minimal experience but am very willing and interested in doing it myself. Opinions? Advice? Where to start.

Thank-you anyone,
acezilla

Give it a good service. New oil and brake fluid. Check the condition of any rubber hoses. It'll probably need new brake wheel cylinders, new brake shoes and possibly drums if it's been stored with the handbrake on. Also the clutch hydraulic system will need checking over. Maybe needing a new slave cylinder.

posting this in the tech section would help more.

general service items would beadviseable, points, condensor, rotor arm, dizzy cap, oil+filter, plugs+leads, air filter, fuel filter. fresh fuel.. whack some premium fuel in like Vpower etc. this will clean through the engine for you.
