I jus bought a new headunit, a pioneer 1 :grin: . But the only thing is that i've not had a headunit in the car before and that means that i've got 2 install all new battery leads (+ and -), mute, ill, remote. How do u do this? anyone got any guides on how 2 do this? or any website addy's? :erm: . Pleaseeeeeee help me. jam2004!

With the head unit you will have got a nice booklet which will have a wiring diagram on it... I think post 89 minis have ISO connectors ( not sure )
Basically headunits have pretty much the same wires comming out of the, and if I remeber rightly for a Pinoeer you have...
Red - which should be connected to an ignition live toggle on the fuse box LGW ( with inline fuse )
Orange - which is connected to a permanent live on Fusebox W ( with inline fuse )
Black - Earth
Blue - remote ( used for power amp or electric aerial )
Yellow/Black- Mute ( Connected to a Handsfree Mobile phone unit )
Yellow - Illumination or connected to your sidelights.
Then you have a bundle of eight wires for your fron and back speakers..

bang on, illumination is not needed same goes for handsfree really
blue (remote) switches your amp(s) on with the head unit, so your amps run off ignition
