my steering is very responsive, but when i rock it, the engine moves a bit too. which are the engine mounts i should be checking or is a little play normal?

also, from the left hand side of the rack, from under the boot, there is a noise, like it is hitting something. it is a lack of bush i think from where that thingy goes in and out as that now can move a little and when i move the steering wheel in a dircetion the first time it makes the sound then it doesnt do it if i continue to steer that way. is it difficult to do a bush there? or changing the rack is a better option. i have to change the boot too so i might as well get this sorted before

please excuse my english

If you can move the engine by rocking it, check the engine steady bushes first.

Sorry, can't help with the other problem as it could be any number of things.

I would also check your subframe mounts if the steering makes the engine move.
