My indicators dont work but yet when i push the hazrad switch every thing functions normally. I believe its the indicator stalk so attempting to fix this i managed to brake (like a true prat) the wiper switch aswell. so heres the question,
does any one know if the the MK3 version will fit a mk4 if i change the adapter plug? My current adapter block has pins the mk 3 is a blade fitting. I ask as Mini sport are selling the MK3 for £25 full assembly, the MK4 will cost about just for the wiper side.

Oooh, forgot to say that its a 1993 1275 carb.

Additional... yours is a MK5/6 not MK4... MK4's upto 1983/4 have the indicator on the right and wipers on the left... Mk3's only have the indicator on the right, wipers are not on the stalk...
So you need MK5/6 stalks
Just looked at link, they are early mk5's, you realy need the ones which were introduced in about 89/90 which have the different connectors, but you could use them yes but you would need change the connector.

I don't know if it'll fit or work, but I do know that those kind of stalks are usually reversed to whats fitted to you're Mini. So the older MKIV type had the wipers on the left and indicator on the right.
But those seam to be set in the later wipers on the right and indicators on the left positions which is damned odd? And those connectors are also an oddity too, because the older MKIV type stalks (as supplied by DSN in the image below) use the conventional pin/plug connectors:-
Anyway try contacting this company below, because they used to sell lots of new/old Rover Mini stock and may have the correct complete assembly. But I reckon you only need to replace the part that you've broken?

And i've checked a few other Mini specialists like Mini Spares and DSN and they want silly money for the separate items, never mind the complete assembly!
But i'd check the fuses too and as you can see, you're indicators are on the same circuit as you're Brake Lights, Reverse Lights & Rear Screen Demister.
Here's a full list:-

Apart from that it could be you're indicator flasher unit or the hazard warning light switch is playing up and that switches off the indicators when the hazards are on. And it's known to sometimes keep the indicators switched off permanantly when it fails.

The twin stalk switch listed by Mini Sport is NOT a Mini part because the connector is wrong. I suspect it is for a Morgan. There are three types of these twin stalks that have been fitted, between 1976 and 1996. Square stalks, indicator on right 1976-1984. Square stalks, indicator on left 1984-1989 and rounded stalks 1989-1996. These three assemblies are all compatible and interchangable with each other. They have the same connectors and wiring arrangement, the same self cancelling trigger and the same mounting. You can get any out of these three that you wish. As above I also believe you will find it is the hazard switch that is causing the problem but if you have truly massacered your wiper switch you may have to replace the whole thing. I can't remember which out of the two actually mounts the assembly to the column but I think it is the wiper side.

Right I was replying to this yesterday when my PC died suddenly so here goes again....

But the rounded stalks with the indicators on the left first got fitted to Minis during late 1985 at the same time that the Mayfair got a tachometer. I know because I bought a brand new Mini Mayfair in November 1985 and was surprised to see that the stalks had changed and had less information on them. This was the same type that was used on all models up to the Twin-Point/MPi Mini of late 1996.
