Hi guys, girls and everything inbetween

I installed twin carbs on my standard 1.3 Sprite last year and took out the CAT.
But to get any real performance results I need to upgrade the head and cam shaft which means big money and probably higher running costs later on.

My question is, should I go for it and follow through or go back to the standard Sprite(1993) set up?
The thing that's drawing me back is that will the upgraded engine start drinking petrol like an alcoholic locked in at an of licence??

Well you really need to ask yourself if your happy with the performance and economy as it is?

The thing you need to consider is the hassle with the MOT and getting the car to pass the emmissions test without the catalytic convertor fitted. You'd have to be refitting it before each MOT test.

As for an upgarded head and cam causing the engine to drink fuel, well, it depends how far you go. If you go for like a stage 2 head and a fairly mild cam then it's not going to be massively different on economy.

You gotta ask yourself why you started to mod it in the first place if you're now unsure, was the performance so bad that it was all necessary?
