I was wondering if anyone could help me with a query. I've recently heard an urban myth involving increasing the power of an mg b by using a small motor/fan (of the type used on R/C planes) to increase airflow into the carburettors . Is this possible, and would it be a cheap way to boost power in a mini?
The mg air filter has a long tube pointing to the front of the car, and apparently the fan was mounted inside
I think that this sounds a little unlikely, but without knowing the technicalities I can't refute this with the source of the rumour
Fact or fiction?

Its a load of b****ks.
There are 'electric superchargers' available on the internet but they are mostly unproven gimmicks sold to 'Max Power' types who buy power boost valves etc.
A lot of the issue is the fact that electric fans just arent powerful enough to increase the air pressure by any meaningful degree, in fact most of the time they just restrict the airflow as they are physically blocking the intake !
Using a R/C plane engine is quite laughable reallly
If you do a search on here (or it might be Minifinity) there is a thread all about it with some useful information regarding the power that would be required to run a big enough electric motor to even begin to compare with an engine driven device.

I did think that it sounded a bit far fetched. I think that i've exposed my complete inexperience , but I had to make sure.
Thanks, I think that this counts as my "learn a new thing every day"
(Even if it was a stupid question in the first place )

It's not necessarily that stupid a question, it's just that it's been asked a few times before

i think it could work r/c 2 stroke planes have a few horse power sometimes, just because its not a logical or intelligent mod doesnt mean it wont work
