Plenty have done it, there are several ways of doing it,
There are also a few people on here doing it, but probably more on www.16vminiclub.com
(Read as much as you can on there and look through other peoples projects before asking lots of questions)

It all depends on budget and welding ability!

If you have one you do not need the other!

We went the chea option and made a frame based on the mini one.

Currently rebuilding the car but have a 1.8VVC for it this time!

You can take this project on with no ability to weld at all if you are willing to spend £800ish on a Purpose built subframe.

I'm undertaking a K-16 project at the moment, I went to have a look at my shell today, It needs a bit of work, but not much at all.

I was very unsure about which way to go about it to start with, but I made my mind up on having a K-16 engine, Custom Drive shafts, and Mini hubs/wheels.

Many people simply adapt a Metro subframe to fit the mini, and then use all metro running gear. So basically building a metro which looks like a mini.

You will have to use your imagination for most of the build, Things like Gear linkage will be down to your own "handy work".

16v minis forum is a good place to look, However, I wouldnt even bother asking questions on there because the place is FULL of "Search police". Anything you ask, you will get a reply like "Try the search button". :D

Ill be making a project thread about my Build shortly with plenty of pictures.

Oh, and dont listen to anybody who says "Why go 1.4, why not 1.8"
You will see a good 105bhp out of a standard 1.4GTi engine, A potential of 120bhp with A bigger throttle body, Induction kit and good exhaust.
So its not going to be a slow car. :proud:

Gook luck mate.

It's actually full of very helpful people who are sick to death of noobs asking the same questions over and over and over and obviously not being bothered to spend half an hour looking for the answers themselves. How any of them will manage to build a 16v Mini is beyond me, oh hang on, most of them don't :proud:

If people express a willingness to learn, and exhibit some ability to find things out for themselves (like serching or reading the numerous stickies) then questions will be answered.
If they post a question thats been asked many times before, and has, on occasion, not even dropped off the bottom of the page yet, they will, quite rightly IMO, be told to try searching, along with being given a few links to be getting on with.

Is that so outrageous :w00t:

I'm with Geehawk on this, having been on 16V for quite some time now I know how helpful they can be on there. Ok there are some people that tend to just tell you your doing everything wrong, but you get them on every forum. And if your being told to search then the answer has already been given a thousand times.

The likelyhood is that if you can't find an answer on a website that has been repeated several times before, your not going to end up completing a 16V project!
