Seen on a couple of old school golfs and other cars the lifters that u get for the boot but on the bonnet, thought they were real cool and just wondered how much work would be involved in making them work on a GT bonnet??
i guess it would be easier as more mounting points in the engine bay and the shape of the bonnet would help as opposed to the roundnose.
Anyone on here done it or want to do it and may be able to advise?

I've thought about this alot. The main problem is mounting, you'd have to raise somthing from the firewall for a lifter (my plan is two. one on each side) so to clear some of the engine parts. That is if you want it like me as a popper bonent that open itself. If it's just a bonnet that holes open (like hatchback boots) then mounting isn't so much a problem.
Ask Frankin....ack.......whats their name......they have a really nice mini travler with the wood work and a hydrolic flip front.
edit.
the nipple things. You could spot weld an L bracket to the bonnet of the car, then put the nipple on that (hee hee, nipple). If you used a large L bracket you could also use it to add strength to the bonnet. But then with welding you might warp it depending on how you decide to weld it.

yeah i just want it to lift the bonnet up once i pop the catch on the front, just like a boot would, its gotta be easier being a clubman, just need some pics, on any car really, of how it was done, so i can pinch there way of doing it, so if anyone can get any pics close up of how theyre mounted, preferably on a car with a similar front end, like a mk1/mk2 golf or nova that would be cool!

I'd just go down the scrappy and find some on a hatch back, and stick em on, if you go for one with a fairly heavy hatch then you're not going to suffer with any weight issues...

They come with lifters and nipples.
Thing is a mini bonnet weights bugger all. Were as other car's they weight a fair bit. So the lifter would need to top out BEFORE the mini bonnet got to it's absolute limit of lift. Or the bonnet might just bend in one go.

ebay you devil you.
Actualy that way makes life so much simpler. Damn my mind and it's ways,

looks into this myself as I used to have a couple of seats on previous mk2 and mk3 golfs, the main problem is they are very strong so to pull them down you will most likely bend the bonnet. VW's are made of pig iron and built like a brick sh3t house as opposed to minis which are made of tin in comparison.
Seen as though my bonnet is fibreglass its tottaly out the question.
On your head be it.

Aye, thats why I always thought to stengthen the bonnet. Is you rolled some heavy gauge sheet (16 or somthing..then again no idea what thickness 16 is!) along two stips of the bonnet and connected the lifter to that.
Then as long as you pushed down on top of the bonnet were the lifters were you should be ok.
