Hi all i want to keep on top of my new mini, so i took it to the garage and they are goung to service it, change some wheel barings , new water bottle, fix a couple of leaks and 4 new tyres. I also wanted to put a new exhaust on as the old one is rather rusted. I have a 1.3i mini cooper 1997. Which exhaust is best to get for performace? I want it to loog nice, with a throaty sound, not a great big bean can which you can hear a mile away. Is the rc40 the one to go for, and if so where is the best place to get one?

Also i would like to get the mini tuned, just as its quite old and just want to make sure everything is in time, also when the new zorst is on it might be worth doing. Is a crypton tuner best? Where is the best place to get it tuned.

Cheers for all your help in advanced,

Dan :P

Recomend Maniflow for exhausts, they will make it how you want it if you ask them nicely :P

As for tuning, cant beat a RR setup.

He said he doesn't want a bean can on the back :P

As the others are recommending, Maniflow really do sell the best quality and value exhaust parts, and an RC40 would be great on your.

Ideally Get the car rolling roaded once all the work has been done. You'd be absolutley astonished at the difference even a slight proper tune up can make to an already running well car.

Getting performance from The Injection A+ engines is slightly more complicated,... or expensive at least compared to carbs.

Send a Message to 'MiniSprocket', he's the resident Injection Buff on here and is doing some pretty wild things to his!

Don't forget, being a 1997, you will be best keeping the cat, therefore a cat back system would be more appropriate... unless you want to fail the emissions test come next MOT.

is it worth getting a manigold too or just a cat back? Would there be a performance advantage by getting a mani?

Fit an LCB type Manifold and a twin box exhaust system from Maniflow. They sell everthing you need including the right attachments because you have a cat etc. Don't get a system with the diameter of the pipes any bigger than 1" 3/4 though, because it can affect the performance on standard engines, but the people at Maniflow will tell you exactly whats best.

Just give them a ring and the jobs done with no hassle or anything, but it can be a fiddly job fitted an LCB and if you can't do it yourself then it's worth knowing a good Mini friendly garage or specialist who can.
