I passed my test wednesday and was driving to friends house and my oil pressure light has decided to come on first of all it was flickering and now its just solid on, absolutly gutted!!! Whats involved in replacing the pump is it driven by the cam?

1st things 1st.
How is the oil level and when did you last change the oil? .. .. well the level is more important.

i popped into work this morning and checked it didnt need topping up though soo i know its leaking oil through the driveshaft oil seals n gear selector oil seals. ive heard a roumer that oil pipes block up is this a possibility?

hmmm. No clue on the blocking up thing. The oil pick up pipe has a filter so that helps.
How many miles do you have on the engine? If you want a quick fix then you could re-jimmy the oil pressure regulator (i'd get a gauge to tell you oil pressure if you do that so you know how much pressure you have) by stretching the spring out to cause more pressure. Not sure as to how good of an idea it is. .. .... hmm.. .... give the regulator a check anyway. They sometimes get stuck.

maybe its the switch or a wiring fault, check with mechanical gauge

all things possible, faulty switches, wires, but if it is the oil pump u have to strip down the flywheel and flywheel housing to get to it, a lot of folk say its not worth doing unless you're doing a rebuild but because the mini oil pump is often found to have sucked up swarf or small metal particles from the gearbox the pump can wear long before the engine internals actually needs work.
maybe get an oil pressure gauge and see what its running at, under normal driving conditions with an engine up to temperatuer the pressure shud be between 40 and 60 psi and somewhere around the 10psi mark at tickover(rough guidelines as all engines vary as do gauges)
the only other thing that springs to mind is the pressure relief valve van get stuck open lowering the oil pressure for the engine, again this is caused by metal from the gearbox because the pump and valve are not pre filtred as such, just have a gauze to stop big stuff going thru! this would be my first port of call if the electrics all seem ok. if at all possible replace the valve with a ball bearing, minispares sell them i believe.
