Bought an engine and once I'd stripped it down I noticed one of the cylinder's bore is quite pitted.

This is the best picture I could get but you can't really see the damage but a rebore should sort it out shouldn't it? The pitting is less the a mm I think. Is there any chance a hone might fix it or is that just for light scratches? Was kinda hoping I wouldn't need to rebore because of money issues but if needs must, was gonna buy those 1360 pistons from minispares because (I think) they were on sale a couple of weeks back but missed out because I lost my internet for a few weeks so instead will some second hand 1330 (+60?) pistons be alright with new rings on them?

How much should a rebore cost? Will go to a place tomorrow and take the engine with me so hopefully the guy will give me some information aswell hopefully.

would go for a rebore personally - and some nice new pistons...

second hand pistons can be a gamble - need to measure the ring grooves for wear, etc. to be honest for the cheap cost of new pistons (that come with the rings), you dont save a great deal

Bugger was hoping that I could buy some second hands ones on the cheap to cut costs, oh well I just won't get the SW5 cam and wait a few months till I can afford a megajolt setup. Cheers, guess I'll start making a shopping list for minispares then.

when you think a std rebore is only +20 thou, which means only 10 thou of metal is removed from the bores.... by the looks of that pitting, it's possibly going to need a fair rebore, possibly +60 or greater...

Yeah I was worried that might be the case, I wouldn't go +20 or +40 anyway because piston prices are all about the same so might aswell go big. If I'm going new then it's gonna be 73mm pistons so 1360 just for something a bit different.
