Hi Ive got a spi mini and was putting new steering wheel on and no matter how hard i tightend the nut it just wudnt go down enough to secure wheel. and due to me rushing i kept tightening instead of taking nut of and packing with washers.

Anyways i now need a new steering column as i wasnt lucky enough to just shread the thread off just the nut. So what i wanted to ask is can i just get a new shaft (if its called a shaft), the part with the slpine for wheel and the nut goes on to, or do i have to get a new column. Is a spi column needed or can i use any old mini column i.e can i use one of a mpi or an earlier mini. as there are some on ebay.

Thanks for your help Lee

You just need the shaft.... I believe the SPI column is the same as all the others (with a steering lock) only the MPI has a different one.
