I am about to embark on a new challenge.

I want to make a bespoke alluminium dashboard for my mini.

It is going to replace the top and bottom dash rails and look similar to a full lenth bulkhead box.

I am wondering if anyone has done this before and can give me some tips or even pics.

Cheers,

Ben

My son has done this on his mini , he used thin aluminium and glued it to thin MDF(or ply) then marked and cut it from the back .

I dont know much about this, but ive been told not to use normal grinding disks on aluminium (clogging up disks or somthing), dunno if this is true, but just popped into my head when I read your post. you maybe know more about this than me anyway, just being safe

Thats one of the reasons for using thin aluminium , you can cut it with scissors and the ply/mdf backing with a jigsaw and it folds / curves easier
