Hi All

Ive just weighed in Bertie on some axle scale things and it came in at 660kg. Ive still got some slight weight reduction things to carry out, ordered plastic windows yesterday, getting f/g or c/f flip front and sorting rear sub frame. Ive also cut out the door inners and window winders, taken the carpetout and things like that

After speaking to MED the other day they said that they would be expecting at least 130-135bhp out of the build. I will be taking it to slark in April to set it up on the rolling road.

The spec of the engine is as follows in all the jargon that i dont understand!!

It also runs only on smelly Shell V-power and has a weber 45 on a six inch manifold along with a maniflow reverse megaphone system and stage two LCB. Will be fitting my new fuel pump over the weekend.

I also had it test run, got an aldon dizzy thing, new water pump, two tubs of running in oil, new coil and other bits.

I think thats all. So what do you think? Should it be any good?

A theoretical 204 bhp per ton

based on it actually producing 135 and the wet weight being 660 kg

Also i wasnt sitting in the car which is bound to add a couple of kg :w00t:

So what kind of weight loss figure should i be aiming for? With the above mentioned mod to be carried out, is there much weight to be saved from those and what other things could i do?

Not eat pies.

Johnny, your power to weight ratio is calculated with the car full of fluids but not driver.

After those mods just wear very thin clothes and eat less fatty foods, you should also cut out beer too. I want to see you down to size zero!!

Only kidding. You wont get your mini much lower than 500 mate if at all.

Thanks Dev.......i love pies!!! :w00t:

Slightly off topic. Would it be worth fitting a super charger to the engine or would it sap more bhp than gain? Just thinking of ways to get more power in.

easy solution,

drive naked.

Save a bit of weight like that.

edit

Super would be the easiest and quickest route to loads of power. Turbo means ripping the car apart again to fit a turbo bulkhead box.

if ur guna run a charger get med to make u an engine that can accept one or you'll have wasted money on ur head from the word go. i think the 135bhp is crank bhp, so about 100 - 110 bhp @wheels which stil isnt bad in any way.

as far as things go, power to weight ratio, bhp, torque figures weather its at crank or flywheel are just numbers, what matters is the time and speed up the 1/4 mile strip and your lap time round a race circuit!

It all means nothing at the end of the day its all about how much talent you have.

A quick driver in a moderately good car will always be faster than a slower driver in a better car.

I dont think i need to point you towards star in a reasonably priced car now do i?

very good point. maybe there shud be a weekend at brands where u can get your car "stigged" so u can have a rated time in a rated car with a rated driver, etc etc thats the ultimate performance challenge! 1 lap of brands or summit like that!
