Hi,
I have posted another topic in mini chat titled battery leakage, but now im thinking its a bit more involved, its nothing to do with the batt either anymore.
My car has been in my possesion about 3 weeks and took it out yesterday for the firts time (been on hols) and it started jumping, it has been driven by the guy i bought it from as he has been out already for the battery. He has said to check various things as have some of the guys on here, but am a girl and dont want to go touching things. The guy i bought it from said to check the distributor for damp, sounded easy enough but scared too.
So i was wondering if anyone knows of a good mechanic that does house visits or does anyone fancy making a few quid to come and check it out, im sure its something really simple but getting really upset now as i havent even driven the thing myself yet. Have another driving test on the 3rd and wanted to get some practice in but mainly just want to know that my car is ok and it is only suffering from a tiny problem.

thanks

lana

...well....when El Gordo decided to be jumpy it was the wires on the starter solenoidal (wing mounted). I pinched them tight and all seemed to work well. Never understood why but meh,

Then again, another one of El Gordo's faults many moons ago was the needle in the float was clogged so if I tried to give it some when I hit certain rpm the engine would plutter jump then die (at speed ^_^ ) so might be worth a check.

It's nothing life threatening (well, not to the car anyway). Just needs a very thorough service inspection and tuneup by the sound of it. Could be a number of things but nothing serious.

he has been and sorted out the problem, the connectors on the ignition coil where very loose so he changed them and lid was very dirty so probably loosing spark sometimes, also he made some adustments to the cylinders so they were running better together, took it for a drive and it was 100% better, he noticed that my accelorator cable was very short as he wanted to adjust it as the pedal doesnt release very well so he will be back on friday to do that, he was going to do it for free as a gesture of good will, but agreed to pay half,(he had tried to alter it but couldnt as its so short) but i though that was very nice of him to offer, shows there are some decent people left in the world.
