hey,

I had a cd-player installed yesterday afternoon. It worked for the ride home but when I wanted to leave at night, my horn, flash beam and radio didn't work any more. I have a '93 British Open with a carburator engine. Does anyone have any ideas how i might be able to fix this?

Thanx,

yverthongen

check the fuse and if its blown, replace. if it blows again get a slightly higher amp one to compensate!

ARRRGGH. NO NO NO NO NO.

Will people please stop giving this dangerous and potentially life threatening advice. The fuse protects the car from fires, don't change the rating.

Did it all fail at once? Were you flashing the lights with the radio on when it failed? If so it sounds like your stereo has been wired into the headlamp flasher / horn fuse and overloaded it which is dodgy and shouldn't be done. There is a specific radio circuit on this Mini. If this was done professionally I would take it back. In your fuse block which is under the bonnet there are 4 fuses. The second one down is the one to check. Replace it with one of the same rating and see if it blows again. If it does there is a fault.

It did indeed fail all at once, but not by doing anything like flashing my lamps of whatever. I started my car and wanted to listen to the radio when i noticed that it didn't work. when i wanted to flash my lights further down the street i noticed that this didn't work too. I'll try to locate the fuse and replace it next weekend, 'cause i'm not home the following days. Thanks for your advice Dan.
