i have a 92 cooper and need to fit a new clutch. a lot of suppliers list a verto clutch as fitting 82 onwards cars but minispares list a 190mm diameter plate for post 1990 cars. can anyone please clarify , because i`ve found a bargain 180mm diameter kit. Will it fit my 1992 cooper.

If its injection you NEED the injection clutch. The one you have will be no good whatso ever.
And yes they are 190mm.
If its not Injection then you could use the 180mm clutch and wouldnt be much of an issue, you would however be reducing the available torque capacity of the clutch. Just make sure its for the 1275 and not the 998, that would be totaly inadequate

Thanks for getting back to me. It was an spi but i converted it to carb. I know the flywheel will have the pickups on it , but they won`t be used now. So its the compatability with the flywheel that concerns me , dont want to buy the wrng clutch,If its injection you NEED the injection clutch. The one you have will be no good whatso ever.

but cant see why i would have to buy the injection clutch. What do you think ?
