Carbon fiber Roof skin

Now ive always been fond of the Carbon roof skins with the exposed weave.
When I buy the skin, Is it just a case of cutting out the old skin leaving an inch or so of "Lip" to bond the new Carbon fiber roof skin to?
Can I Rivet it on? Providing I put a sealing agent between the skin and the Lip?
Will I need to do any cutting/filing to get the new Skin to sit neatly in the Roof Gutter?
And finally, How much would a CF Roof skin set me back?

from a layman's point of view surely its going to sacrifice the strength of the shell in a major way, after all it is a monoque structure, even if you do have a cage in there too. i use f/g doors and i intend to put metal ones back on as i fear for my safety, even with a safety devices 6pt cage..
i worry about you guys when i think we take lightening too far, and in an accident.. well its scary. please tell me otherwise.

by the way thats a kick ass clubby, would you mind pm'ing some photos of your wheels/ arches/ body? i want to get rid of 13X7 minilights for some revos, but dont know on what size!!

However I advise in the STRONGEST WAY POSSIBLE, fit a Multi Weld Cage.
DONT buy a roof skin off ANYONE unless they advise that.
I would go for a CF weave layer with kevlar underneath. Little bit more weight, loads more strength.
The next problem your going to have is getting the roof done in one piece. I know Curley use's 3 to 4 different pieces of cloth to cover the roof.
What is it you want out of it? Looks or weight?

Lots of money to spend when that money can get you more weight saved in better areas.

so whats the difference in strength between fitting a carbon roof skin and fitting a full length sunroof ?
That's a damn good point Bungle! Though I assume there is some sort of frame bolted in there, you are cutting a similar amount of material away.

as far as i`m aware, The roof has a fair few dints in it.
So i guess a CF roof isnt needed but the roof would still need to be sorted out and if your sorting out the roof and you want the CF effect then i this is the perfect time to do it really...
