I pick my shell up tomorrow night, and as far as i`m aware, The roof has a fair few dints in it.
Now ive always been fond of the Carbon roof skins with the exposed weave.

When I buy the skin, Is it just a case of cutting out the old skin leaving an inch or so of "Lip" to bond the new Carbon fiber roof skin to?
Can I Rivet it on? Providing I put a sealing agent between the skin and the Lip?

Will I need to do any cutting/filing to get the new Skin to sit neatly in the Roof Gutter?

And finally, How much would a CF Roof skin set me back?

Ah nice one. Yea ive heard they are light, which is the main attraction really. The weight is going to be the main advantage for my Valver.

i know it looks cool but is it really worth it?

from a layman's point of view surely its going to sacrifice the strength of the shell in a major way, after all it is a monoque structure, even if you do have a cage in there too. i use f/g doors and i intend to put metal ones back on as i fear for my safety, even with a safety devices 6pt cage..

i worry about you guys when i think we take lightening too far, and in an accident.. well its scary. please tell me otherwise. :D

by the way thats a kick ass clubby, would you mind pm'ing some photos of your wheels/ arches/ body? i want to get rid of 13X7 minilights for some revos, but dont know on what size!! :D

Yes the CF roof skins are nice and pretty.

However I advise in the STRONGEST WAY POSSIBLE, fit a Multi Weld Cage.

DONT buy a roof skin off ANYONE unless they advise that.

I would go for a CF weave layer with kevlar underneath. Little bit more weight, loads more strength.

The next problem your going to have is getting the roof done in one piece. I know Curley use's 3 to 4 different pieces of cloth to cover the roof.

What is it you want out of it? Looks or weight?

As above, the weight reduction is a non point if you haven't already got a full roll cage, because you'll need one. So you remove say 1kg from changing the roof over, but add several by sticking a full roll cage in there! That said, if you already have a roll cage, or intend on getting one, then the weight saving is an advantage.

Lots of money to spend when that money can get you more weight saved in better areas.

That's a damn good point Bungle! Though I assume there is some sort of frame bolted in there, you are cutting a similar amount of material away.

To answer the one question that hasn't been answered yet. I believe Curleys (probably best located for you Binge (wouldn't want a CF skin being damaged in the post!!)) roof skin showing weave is £450.

suppose u have to ask urself, what would make more difference, spending £450 on performance parts or £450+fitting on swapping the roof?

Well you could ask yourself that but in binge's first post it says

as far as i`m aware, The roof has a fair few dints in it.

So i guess a CF roof isnt needed but the roof would still need to be sorted out and if your sorting out the roof and you want the CF effect then i this is the perfect time to do it really...
