HELP ME PLEASE!! people im new to the site so hope this is in the right area.............................

basicly my problem is that ive got a mini, (suprisingly) but ive lowered it, quite low, and it loves to rub at the back , and a bit the front, the inner arches are cut down real low at the back and front but it just keeps wearing grooves into my tyres, and tyres arnt cheap!!

sooo............have any of you got a low low mini that doesnt rub, if so how did you do it??

woah! nice piece of kit, loud colour, adn not ideal for the taller person i bet!

im sure theres a thread on here about "tubbing arches", do a search, if i remember rightly its a light blue mini with the rear arches tubbed which apparently helps with the lowering scenario!

either than or get smaller wheels! which i no u dont wana do

do a search, search is your friend!

I dunno if this is what 'tubbing arches' is but...

You can cut the rear arches, and bring them along square to the rear quarter panel, rather than angling down first (as standard). This will give you a bit more travel as you can cut more of the quarter panels away. I had this done on my old mini and it worked a treat...rubbed very occasionally.

On the front you just have to cut the wings up as far as you can, get as close to the bodykit as possible without going too far!

Tubbing is where you make the inner arch larger (so it protrudes further into the rear seat area.)
This basically gives the wheel more upwards travel before it hits anything.

this is what you need to do ideally, not very good option though seeing as you have fresh paint and a body kit.

this is the metal work cut out (the return lip area) and a will be welding a stip back in the hole.

your other option is to stiffen up the suspension a bit at the back end.

you can also get a little bump stop that goes on the rear subframe that reduces the amount of travel on the cone so the wheels cant rub, it was fitted to the ERA turbos. you can buy them from mini spares but you will pay big money for what is essentialy an exhaust fitting bobin sawn in half with a threaded bit to bolt on the car.

hope that helps in some way
