My '89 mini's finally been eaten by the rust too much for me too bare and am going to have to face it before its too late. The doors, scuttle panel, A-panels, wings and front panel all need replacing (hopefully not much else underneath). I've just bought a mig welder and am learning to weld so my question is where should I start? Was thinking about doing a flip front, preferably in steel but understand this is really hard to weld up accurately?? So should I replace the A-panels and scuttle panel first or after or just hack the front end off and go from there? Any fibreglass fronts fit better than others?

Too many new front end panels to know where to start!

I am after similar advice if anyone can help. I want to do a flip front on mine due to rust & an erm small incident with a Welsh wall.
My dad is my resident welder/mechanic & he wants to make a steel flip front for it because he did a fibreglass one on his mini in the 70's & he "fancies a challenge" lol.
I've heard how difficult this is & also how badly fitting fibreglass fronts can be.
Has anyone built a steel flip front, or know of the best quality fibreglass/carbon fibre fronts?
Cheers
Steve
