Any hints will be greatly appreciated!
Secondly, with my 21st birthday looming i really want to invest in my mini and give my MG metro 1275cc a bit more life. I want to add twin carbs but cant spend silly money on them. Are they easy to fit? What price should i pay? Should i get recon twin carbs?
Again any help will be massively appreciated!
Cheers, Ben

Firstly my lil beaut has been off the road since xmas. I was changing gear when the engine revved to its limit (as if the accelerator was fully depressed). The throttle cable seems fine i was wondering if it could be something to do with the carb?
Any hints will be greatly appreciated!

Checked the return spring and it seems to be in working order, there does however seem to be a 'clunk' noise when the spring returns.
Could this have something to do with the flap in the carb?

Might just be sticky linkages. Give it a clean and a spot of oil on the links (for the time being) then see if it happens again.

the "flap" is called a butterfly and yes they make a bit of a clunk as they snap shut.

Thanks for the hints...today i ripped the carb out, stripped it down and gave it a really good clean, oiled the linkages etc and did everything by the book. I fired her up and the same thing is still happening!!!

I'm not the most tehnically minded person when it come to my mini, so any more possibilities will be very much welcomed! I think at least i can rule out the carb.
Cheers.

Maybe it's binding up in the tube?
Just an idea.

The cable is fine...so baffled by it!Is the cable alright as well?

Throttle cable, choke cable and all linkages on the carb etc are fine.
Cant think what else it could be.
The car drives but obviously revving on full, it doesnt drive normally. I can change thru gears etc
Before this happened, it had a new coil and points and ran sweet.
Could it be anything to do with the timing?

If it still has the same problem then it could be something sticking in the carb.
If the problem goes away then it's a fault with the cables...
Not a final solution but one to help narrow the search down a bit as there could be many reasons for this.
