Hmmm, I don't know! :(
Looking at the standard remote stick I took out the other day, I'd say it was fairly easy though? At a guess:

Remove gaitor,
Remove two big screws (from front and back of top cover),
Remove old stick and retaining plate,
Refit is the reversal of above, only with the new components! :)
All of that is a guess! :)

It does come with instructions... I mean even I was able to do it - and I am no mechanical genius!

The hardest part for me was removing the pins to release the standard gearstick - had to use a handy piece of wood as a lever. It is pretty straightforward though (the official KAD quickshift - i dont know about any others)

I have an unofficial one. didn't come with instructions. once you have drifted the pins out its pretty easy, just a case of lining up the stick, making sure its well greased then putting the bolts in the holes where the pins were. took me a while because i cudnt get to the pins without dropping the selector housing - lack of tools!!

This is on a remote gearbox though, not a rod change as fitted on cars post 1976, so its a different fitting. I think what Matt said sounds about right, from what I remember about stripping a remote box down.

Yup, it all goes back as it was, just with the new stick and retaining plate instead of the old stick and plate (I think). :(
