Cat pipe
I did the same thing on my cooper sportspack, just replaced the cat and silencer with a s/s jobbie, i've i can do it in about 1.5 hours now (old crusty thing off, new shiny exhaust on), i've done it about 3 times.
by the way, if this is your first exhaust removal, you will(!!) need an angle grinder, as the cat bolts get extremely hot, and weld themselves together with the heat and rust, and you'll probably have to cut them off!! then just drill out the bolts, and slot in new ones when you refit it!

Manifold to RC40 neck pipe from minispares.
this changes the standard manifold into a 1.75" pipe, slot in your link pipe and woteva and build woteva system u like from there backwards.
I have,
The neck pipe, into a stainless straight thru pipe, into a centre exit backbox with 2 1/4" exit.

if they do, thats cool, you just need to bolt the system to your cat.
easy way to check is to see if it ends with a large flange with 2 bolt holes (this bolts onto the cat - the same as on each end of the cat replacer pipe in the picture), if so, then thats all you need!!

Manifold to RC40 neck > link pipe to cat > *insert cat* > backbox of choice
OR
3 Branch LCB manifold > link pipe to cat > *insert cat* > backbox of choice
If i am thinking correctly.

for cat-equipped cars (where you want/need to keep the cat), you need what i've suggested, below is a quick piccy to help, this is veiwed from above. you need the the back box,and link pipe thats all
if you're going for a centre mount, you still need the same pipes, but you'll need to drill into the subframe crossmemeber at the back, and have just 1 exhaust hangar.
and no you don't need a new manifold.
Hope this helps!!!!!!!
