Got a 70/71 GT and just getting it ready for it's MOT, anyway I noticed it didn't have the bar thing that attaches to the floor to lock the seat like my other minis have had but searching minispares it says that it became a feature on later cars so do I need this or no to get it through it's MOT. There quite expensive for a bit of metal thats been bent inti a U shape. These are the things I'm talking about by the way.

Also doesn anyone know where I can get the gasket that sits between the sidelight lense and the backing bit.

£30! Ruddy hell, get them 2nd hand man. Be far cheaper.

No idea as to if you need them, but I would have them. Just seems safer. Probly isn't but meh thats just me.

I can see them being safer if you don't have your seatbelt on of if somebody was in the back but otherwise the seatbelt tensioner would stop the seat coming up. Was planning to fit them anyway but too much new, could of had them off a mini I cut up a year ago but I gave the back end to somebody so they could make a trailer out of I wanted the rear subby and wheels back though but still haven't showed up

For a 71 mini, locking seats aren't part of the MOT

When i took my old mini which was a 1970 for an mot last year i was worried about not having these fitted as well. I spoke to the tester and he said as the car was not originally fitted with them from the factory due to the age of the car they don't need to be fitted.
