Hi all,
After reading some great threads on here I decided its time for me to post mine. I got into the mini
scene after seeing Zcars demonstrator at the Stoneliegh kit car show in 2005, I was there
showing my Cobra and was looking at building a track day car.
At the time they weren't doing Vtech conversions but Chris said they were looking into it, I bought an
engine ready and almost straight away changed my mind and sold it on ebay (is it running yet jammy basturd).

A Type R was found and along with the 1962 mk1 shell I had I was ready to start.

Attached File  Copy_of_type_R_001.jpg   88.95K   148 downloads

I started by cutting out the back and de-seaming (never again). Miglia arches was the look I wanted so I ordered them, trial fitted,

changed my mind then binned them. I now have sports pack copies.

After months of grinding cutting and sanding, the project hit a low point (other things on the go) and
it stopped for a good six months. Its then I spotted a post from kendodsdadsdogsdead that said
looking for unfinished Zcar. I phoned him on impulse and immediately regretted it, ithen told myself if he doesn’t
phone me back I will keep it and push on.

The last time i will have to look at this car in primer.

Three coats of 2pac and six months later.

Sorry dont have any more pics of finish paint, will take some tomorrow ive got all easter to spend on it.
I have a massive shopping list for mini bits at Stoneliegh.

More to follow soon.

Steve.

WEHAY!!! Didn't think you were going to sign up. You still got the Cobra? I remember dribbling over it when I picked up the engine!

Due to certain problems (see the post about Eddie Payne in Ebay section) and other commitments I haven't been able to get much done on mine, but this summer is the summer it will get back on the road!!

Anyway, if your Cobra is anything to go by I'm looking forward to see this project progress!

Well i managed to put a few hours in this weekend and made good progress.

Engine looms on, main loom is roughed in, rear lights, front lights, indicators.

Attached File  mini_070407_00100.jpg   209.56K   110 downloads

A couple of fresh air scoops for the intake as well.

I'm not to keen on the Zcars shifter so i have adapted one out of the Civic. Only thing is it needs a
center console to hide it all. sound odd but will work great, ile put some pictures of it up soon.

Jammy its good to hear your building again soon, i found a spare alternator and starter motor for that
engine of yours in my lockup i bought them as spares, if you want them there yours.

Paul i still have the Miglia arches but i have cut them about, if you want them just give us a beer for them.
I also found some Mk1 bits. will post details tomorrow.

I couldn't resist covering the dash with Alcantara, along with thick ally plate and ally switches.

Bulkheads all done. I started her up for the first time a couple of weeks ago. What a relief, Ive had the engine for about 18 months now
and i didn't even know if it was a runner or not. )Too much faith in Ebay).

Very professional looking work!

Did you line the inside of the bulkhead with anything to help control heat and/or noise?

PS - Will the header tank be below that nice clean bulkhead?

These switches came from one of the kit car shows, but you can get them from Deemon Tweeks, RS components, Stafford
vehicle components and some other places. Originally i was going to put all the column switches on the dash but at £17 each
i changed my mind.

Ive got a big roll of heat and sound proofer just haven't got round to fitting yet. Header tank is in front of car, its easyer to get to.
