Fitting a new fuel tank

This tank sprung a leak so I got a new one....
The tank I've now got is exactly the same (except for the unleaded mechanism in the filler neck) BUT....
The outlet in the bottom is blocked.
the breather at the top is actually the outlet ( I would assume due to the lack of possible alternatives) with some pipe & 2 thingies on it (I'm thinking filter (Black?) & non-return valve (white?)????) I'm thinking that the inside of this "breather" has a pipe which runs to the bottom of the tank..?
Therefore, I think I have 2 options:
1. Connect my fuel pipe to the stuff on the top of the tank. I'm not sure that my pump will be able to suck fuel through all of these extra bits...?
2. Drill out the blocked outlet on the bottom of the tank. This I'm sure would work but I'd rather try to use the tank as it is.
Is there any changes inside the tank that I should know about?
What is the best way to get his all working?
Thanks
Mike

Best option would be to get the correct tank for your car.

as for the fuel pump, it wont have any trouble picking up the fuel from the tank.

an extra piece of fuel pipe and a straight connector, is all you need.
as for the fuel pump, it wont have any trouble picking up the fuel from the tank.
That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure if it'd work! Just make an extension for my fuel pipe & connect it to the white thingie at the top of the tank?
Tha tank's not got a pump in it (that's a round bit on the top kinda like the sender unit but with pipes coming out of it, right?) anyway this tank's not got that.
Thanks

Now I'm confused again... The pipe I thought was blocked isn't (petrol doesn't come out when you tip the tank up though!) I stuck a screwdriver in and discovered that it does go into the tank!
This is what's on the top of the tank... what is it?

Thanks
Mike

If it is an injection tank (just supposing) you would need power to the pump, an inertia switch and a pressure regulator in the engine bay to reduce the pressure otherwise the carb would be way overfuelled...
It may be that there was a vapour lock tank fitted just prior to the switch over to injection which would be the tank you have (i'm not familiar with one)
Legislation came in about tanks not being allowed to vapourise in the early 90's i think but i can't really remember...
Mini Sprocket or the anorak should have the deffinitave answer.... or someone else in the know

if the tank has a tilt valve in it then you wont be able to tip out the petrol.
as for whats on the top never seen one before.
where did you get the tank from?

It turns out that the stuff on the top of the tank's just a fancier version of my old breather pipe so I just disconnected it and put my breather pipe back on, connected the outlet hose to the bottom corner spigot and it's all working!
Thanks for all the advice guys!
