decided to repair the doors... now then, should i purchase a door repair panel - are they easy to put on, line up etc?! i'll have to practise welding first  but as its not structural im thinking it could be a good place to start to learn! :D ^_^ ;)

I personaly would not bother with those lower half door skins , the amount of disstorsion you will get is so bad you end up with loads of filler to fix that !
I would just fit a new doorskin .

Il def agree with woody here, ive been welding in audi door handles to my golf over the last few days, and even on those panels (5 inches x 3 inches) its can warp the door skin if your not an expert welder!

erm, i think hes referring to those bottom/inner door panels that u can weld on to replace the rotten bottom section of a door. I plan to practice wleding on these as it dusnt matter how messy u r, can always sand it off and whatever, as long as its strong.

Where can you buy these repair panels from? Or do you just make the repair part up yourself.

Hi mic , if you mean the lower door frame repair sections and not the lower doorskin repair sections then they are not too bad to fit , but i only fit them as part of an overall door repair before fitting a doorskin as if the frame is rotted away then the bottom of the skin is usualy gone bad too

yea cheers i did mean the bottom half of the doorskin, ive seen em advertised in a shop in minimag for just over a tenner.... but as full door skins are only £20ish quid might as well do all of it :(

cheers
