hi all , just brought my 1st mini and drove it back 500 miles from england to ireland without a hitch. its a 1987 mayfair with a 998cc stage 1 fitted. it has been siiting for a while and have changed the plugs and air filter but when i took it for a drive it wont rev past 4000rpm so it will only go 40mph!!. the engine seems to rev fine when in neutral. also has developed a small oil leak does the stop oil leak stuff in halfords really work??

any ideas much appricated as this is my 1st mini i am a novice! :(

thanks in advance

paul

had a similar problem, turned out to be an air filter problem - its wer clogged - take it off and go for a drive, see if that cures it

Hi that stuff from hafords works on some rubber seals but dont count on it. It best to find out were the oil is comming from and sort it as the seal is probley cheper.
Also try your old air filter back in and see how it goes
cheers
