As you might know I've just bought my first ever car (1972 morris mini) and I think the speedo is a bit dodgy.
It rests on about 7-8mph when at a standstill, and when I slow to about 40-42 through speed cameras (in a 40 zone obviously!) I have people overtaking me going about 5-10mph faster!
Is the speedo checked for good accuracy on the MOT? It was only MOT'd on the 2nd April and passed alright. I know that speedo's are always a few mph over anyway, but mines looking about 10mph over!

Speedo calibration isn't checked on MOT's. Has your mini had bigger/smaller than standard wheels fitted? This can affect the reading.

I honestly don't know, lol, they're definately not the original wheels but I'm no expert so I haven't a clue whether they're a different size to the originals:
