heya lads and lasses!! my names michael and im from preston!! im looking to buy a mini in the next few months! i passed my driving test last wednesday. the car i currently own is a Toyota starlet gt turbo. but im a student and can't afford to run it! so im luking to buy a mini!
just thought id join and say hi, also one of my best m8s has a MG metro turbo that he has built himself running a Hybrid T3 turbo. il post pics soon!

the turbo in this picture is the standard T3 turbo. the turbo now has been recond and hybrid and has had a Cosworth 4x4 impellor put on.
the car now is running 0.8 bar.

What mini you going for? 998, 1275, special/limited editions, cooper etc?

im going for a 1275, i might go for a turbo but im not sure yet, just want a mini to drive and have some fun in!!

wicked. They are fun to drive.

Make sure you get a sound mini. don't rush into buying the first one you see as it could cost you more in the long run (as i found out)

I agree, I certainly couldn't afford a 1275 when I first passed, whats wrong with kids nowadays, they always want to run before they can walk, I reckon a sound 998 would suit you better and being a student, shouldn't cost you the earth!!

I got a 1275 just after i passed. price wasn't too bad for insurance with 2 modifacations declared.

dont listen to these people lol, be a man and buy a 1275 carb :P thats what i did, wasnt my first car though... i couldnt go to as small as a 998 after my last car!

but yea, as they've already said, really take your time looking... the difference in price and quality is so massive between each mini, not like looking for a 'normal' car! i spent a month looking for mine, and if i had any more time available i'd have happily used it!
