Hey guys im gonna be painting a car out in my garden (in a gazebo) over the next week or so, and im just after some advice...
im planning on using cellulose as i dont have the protective equipment for 2k,
i just wanted to know how much paint i will need to order? the car is a ford capri and im painting the roof front wings and rear quarters...
how far does celly go? i know i should mix it approx 50.50 with thinners but i dunno how far it will go...
the colour is a solid one not metalic so will i still need laquer?

Personally I would get two litres, mix it 50 / 50 with premium thinners. You need to get plenty on, so you do not cut through it when you come to the compounding / flatting stage.
Remember to make sure you have a water & oil catcher on the compressor and spray at around 30 - 40 Psi. Make sure everything is clinically clean!
Allow it to go off between coats and try & choose a warm day, definately no rain about otherwise it will bloom.
Use all the paint, adding coat after coat, last coat mix it 75% Thinners / 25% paint. This will give a decent gun finish.
Then go to pub, and forget about it for a couple of days. Let the paint FULLY harden. Then give it a rub down with 2000 Wet & dry with soap to remove orange peel and any bits of dirt. Take your time, all the paint should now be matt. Then buff up with a compound to restore that showroom shine.
Once polished, it will look top banana, so I see no need to use laquer!
See this link http://www.theminifo...showtopic=39994, that black mini 30 at the bottom of the thread had 9 litres of cellulose, but look at the shine!!!
That thread also has advice on how to fade off to panels that are not being painted.
Moral of the story - take your time and do not rush it! ................ Good Luck!
