as i'm going to be removing henry's engine, i've been preparing him. good old haynes manual says to drift out the pin on the gearchange selector rod...but there are 2 pins! and neither budge when hit with a big hammer and punch! anyone any ideas for the best way to remove em so i get the linkage off? :P everything else is done bar this, tis rather annoying!

cheers

RM

Get a bigger hammer, or bigger arms.

Lump hammer works best. Select a gear which allows for a sideways thrafting of one of the pins.

Use the correct sized drift (from memory I think I use a 3mm one) and give the pin a good smacking!

Can't remember which gear the car needs to be in, but I think it may be reverse, that'll give you the clearance to drift the scroll pin through.

Do a search on here and you'll find out which gear it needs to be in and also the size of the drift that's needed for definite.

Ooh, and by the way, it's called a rod change on your car, not a remote change, the remote change was fitted to earlier cars and has an alloy casing that extends from the gearbox back to the gearstick. :P
