It's an engine breather canister for fitment to the transfer case on a 1275.

Be careful, there are 2 versions. One for fitment to a car without a brake servo and one for a car with a servo. Canister is at an angle if there's a servo to make sure it clears it properly.

Any Mini specialist, most classic car specialists, any Mini scrap yard, most general scrap yards, lots of car parts dealers or any Rover dealer you can still find, E-bay or perhaps the for sale section of this very forum.

Would you like some help with advanced telephone use? Perhaps you would like someone to tell you where telephones can be found?

Only winding you up! :withstupid: :withstupid:

You can find them just about everywhere that you can find any Mini parts.

was it only on 1275? because i think i might have one, it has a pipe going to the carb. it is on the right hands side of the engine (as viewed from the front) at the back of it right?

the one on the right hand side is fitted to the timing cover, yes you have a pipe running from it into the carb.

Some 1275 were fitted with both, and used a link piece and then joined the carb.

Well iv got a partially stripped MG metro engine, and it has got all the correct holes for it to be mounted on so i guess that it was taken off by the previous owner...

check that the opening inside is actually vented
because i bought one and my casing had the
fixing holes but not the vented hole.

surely even if it was just blanked off I could just drill it through.

You can indeed, just remove all the metal at the base of the riser. Make sure you only break through into the correct side though, it's for venting the drop gear chest and not the clutch.
