hello all. Is it possible to change the primary gear oil seal on the end of the crank, without removing the engine. Do i just remove the wok and clutch assembly? and then pull c washers and gear? reason is im getting clutch slip and on inspection theres oil in the clutch casing.

The primary gear stays in situ mate... as said it is possible to do without engine removal... but there will be bad language involved!...lol :withstupid: :withstupid:

Just drop it.

Mini engine's too fiddly to do anything over the clutch side.

certainly possible..

pretty straight forward assuming the flywheel comes off ok...
also if your car has a servo it turns out to be a PITA

the job is sooo much easier with the propper puller (which pulls the gear out complete with seal), and re-fitting sleeve (which presses in the seal without damage).

Dave

I would definitely advise getting the suitable tools for the job as I recently replaced the seal with the engine in situ and OH MY GOD wasn't there a lot of swearing involved!!!! And yep the servo causes major headaches when coming to actually getting at everything and then getting it outta the way!

If possible remove the engine. I wish I had but perservered out of sheer stubborness and ignorance!!!
