Just bought a mint Austin 1300 for 117.50!
It's all there apart from carb and rad pretty much. I can use my current 1100 rad (with the bracket from mini spares, or I'll make one) and as for the carb I'll just have to get an HIF44 second hand, as I don't think my HS4 will be up to the job.
At the mo, on my 1100, I have a Maniflow Cooper FreeFlow manifold, a MSC inlet, RC40 and K&N replacement element. So...
All that will be bolted onto my 1275, but it won't be unleaded so I was thinking of trying to find a half dece stage 3 unleaded 1275 head second/third hand on eBay or something. Seeing as the engine will be sat in my garrage for a while, what else could I do to it? That is quite cheap, sort of around 100 pound mark max?

if no-ones beaten me to it, i'd say you've got to be looking at camming it, maybe a kent 286 scatter profile cam, only 2 more saturdays and i'll be running one of these in a 1275, although to be fair i know nothing about cam shafts!

Don't steal it, buy a copy!!!! i just spent 3 hours reading it again by torch light as the power was off.
if the engine is out, then a 276/286 would be what i would be looking at... plus the timing gear, but you'll get a copy of that book for under a tenner and it will save you hundreds and hundreds of pounds and weeks and weeks of trying things out.....
