Was just fitting my Gaz shocks when I realized that the metal spacer collar from the previous shocks has stuck onto the stud on the top mount on the inner wing.

I can NOT get it off!! Tried grips, hammer, chisel!

Any idea? Without replacing the mount.

I think it has just corroded on, I would not be suprised if I has never been changed in 31 years!

Douse it in oil. Heat it them nab it with some tight mole grips. Wiggle like hell (or hammer it to shock it off). Worked on my brake adjuster.

Yeah I can't find my Mole grips. I think they will probably get them off, I'll try do them as tight as possible. Use a bench vice to clamp the Mole grips even tighter!

i got mine off with WD40- i then set fire to the WD40  and yeah, wiggling them like hell worked. On one of them I ground two flats on and wanged an adjustable spanner on it, off in a jiffy.

Good luck. when re-assembling, add a thin smear of MP grease or perhaps even copper grease to aid assembly and should you ever have to take them off again, they wont be rusting to hell and back :dozing:
