Heres the list as stated on the test sheet:

Rear fog lamp not working (wasnt last yerar but they dint note it)
drivers seat insecure (tighten a few bolts)
Front lower wheel arch corrosion within 30cm of body mountings
Rear floor pan corrosion within 30cm of body mountings
Nearside and offside sills corrosion within 30cm of body mountings
Front subframe attachment rubber mounting perished and causes excessive movement
Nearside front constant velocity joint gaiter insecurely mounted to its housing(needs a new clip on it)
Exhaust emissions CO content excessive(fuel/air mixture needs altering)

And thats it! So we are buying the new sills and getting them to do the rest and repair it.

Only thing is we dont know which sills to get. :withstupid: There are 4" and 9" but we are unsure which it is. Can anyone help? Its a 1991 Mini City E.

Any help appreciated!!!

Outer sills should be the narrower ones. The wider ones are a no-no!

Bigger sills are oversills, which fit over rust rather than cutting out and repairing it.

That said, bigger sills are cheaper, and can be bought and cut down to the size of smaller sills. So there's no reason not to get them as long as you do the job properly.

As above really, 9" sills fit over anything and are a bit like some ugly bird putting lots of make up on.. however, the 9" (with closed off vents) can be cut down to replicate 4" proper sills (with open vents) so works out slightly cheaper if your prepared to cut them up (takes something in the region of 2 mins)

The vents are important as they let moisture/condensation that inevitably creeps into the inner sill, drip away. Here's a picture of where to cut the 9" sill down to size to open the vents up. (they will be pressed indents on an oversill with no opening.)
