hey,
i have just fitted an mg metro 1275 into my mini. its an 1988 engine (i believe, thats the date i found on the altinator anyway). should i be using any sort of lead replacement stuff or will it run ok with out? its a standard engine with a stage 1 kit, original head.

Whats the engine number?

If it has electronic ignition (as standard) it is 1990 on and will be unleaded, but if you post the engine number that can be confirmed...alternator could have been switched at any point.

That has a standard leaded head, so unless it has been modified and you dont know about it, then you should be using some lead additive.
