im not sure of the capacity of that model, but if you get a smooth stick (like a broom handle) and put it in the tank to the bottom, you will know the depth of fuel in the tank... when it's very low, fill it back up, reset you odometer and make a note of the mileage when its empty again (and how many litres it takes to fill it back up) There is always the small space at the top of the tank that you can't get fuel into, and areas at the bottom that you cant get fuel out of, so it's best to guess it on mileage in my experience..... though remembering back to the days when i first owned mini's i could only ever afford to put in 8 litres at a time and that was when it was nearly empty.... these days, i keep the tanks full.

I dont understand how you can get £25 worth in a 5 gallon tank! iv got a 7.5 gallon tank and the most i have ever been able to fit in that was £20 and that was when fuel was right at the edge of the fuel neck.

I';m not sure you could have a 7.5 g tank then TomF. I had a 5.5 and was putting in about £18-£20....last week i put a 7.5g in and first fueling got approx £28-£30 in.

injection tanks (if thats what you have) have reduced capacity as they sip instead of sluping.... or something like that

Easy way to tell.

5.5 gallon tank is roughly in line with the edge of the boot when you open it.

7.5 gallon tank sticks out into the wheel well section.

I dare anyone to try and get more then 32 litres of fuel into the '7.5 gallon' tank.

I managed the 30 litres from a tank that was almost running dry
