I got an auto darkening mig helmet from ebay USA. It cost £13.50 and £10 postage. It arrived in 6 days and works great. I bid for it for a laugh, but as it turns out this is like getting something brilliant for free. I know this sounds like an advert, but if you need a cheap mig mask, give it a go,

How do these work? At the moment i have just got a cheap helmet that has two slides, one clear and one that is very dark. From the title i guess there clear and then when you start welding it automatically darkens? is that right? if so i might have to invest in one. lol

Good deal!

they really are the nuts, i got mine for about 40 quid delivered a couple of years ago which i thought was good as i can remember when they were 300 quid upwards circa 1995.

great for any type of electrical welding, but essential IMO for tigging.
