I've got a problem that i can't think of how to solve without cutting out the rear door bins - which i don't want to do as i'm going to see whatever work i do to them. I need to sort out rust inside the door bins at the bottom of them - very difficult to get to! I can't think of a good solution of gaining access. Any ideas?

i did think of removing all the spot welds and re-welding it back up when done, but i can't get to some of them as they are inside the door bin - nuisance!

The rust there is actualyl ont eh inner sill, the correct way to do it without removing door bins is to remove outer sill, fix/replace inner sill, replace outer sill. However, unless your sills need doing you prob want to avoid that.
I have the same prob, but im cutting my bins out and putting a cage in, so should be able to sort it.

What Oli said^^
Work on them from the bottom of the car. If it is really bad you will have to remove the rear subframe to get to it which is a little more work than you probably bargained for!

Stormduck: those oversills you werent going to take off need to come off!!
best way is to do it from underneath like the other chaps have said

i recently found that one of my sills had be oversilled when i changed the rear subframe... the trailing edge had been sealed with tigerseal instead of welded and when i pulled the sealant out water gushed out, also found the uinner sill corroded through the bottom of the door bin on that side....
My bodykit makes taking sills off virtually impossible!!!!!

cheers fellas. miniboo - i'm surprised you remember about the oversills! I decided a few weeks ago that i am going to get them off, i've even ordered a sill kit from minisport which should be on its way.
So it appears the consesus is, remove the outer sill, like i was going to, then if the inner is pretty rough replace that and in the mean time sort the bin rust, or cut into the inner sill by the bin to repair inside, then plate over it. cheers nmt + sammy. Car is a bare shell at the mo so this is the time to do it. I'm also replacing entire boot floor + arches once she's moved into my garage.
biggav - yeah i think the inner sill has a hole in one of the bins.
jonny d - understood!
Nice one fellas, problem solved!
